ELM (ACT): A Legacy of Business in Canberra
Established in 2010 by Managing Director Amanda Tobler, ELM (ACT) continues a proud family tradition of business in the Canberra region. Amanda is the third generation of Toblers to operate a business locally, following in the footsteps of her grandfather, who opened his first businesses in Kingston and Manuka in 1927.
“My grandfather arrived in Canberra in the 1920s. It is exciting to continue his vision of serving and supporting the Canberra community,” Amanda shared.
Amanda’s business acumen has been shaped by her father, Conrad Tobler, who started his own enterprise in the 1960s. At 83 years of age, Conrad remains actively involved in the family business.
“I think it’s great that Amanda and Nicholas are carrying on our nearly 100-year-old tradition of owning and operating a business in Canberra,” Conrad said.
ELM has now expanded to include Nicholas Dunn as co-director, alongside a team of expert consultants. This growth enables ELM to remain flexible, adaptive, and readily available to meet client needs.
“I am thrilled to be working full-time with ELM and continuing our family tradition,” Amanda stated.

Her exceptional relationship-building skills enable ELM to foster strong connections across sectors.
Nicholas brings over 20 years of business support experience, having worked with several local and international organisations. His expertise strengthens ELM’s ability to support a diverse range of clients.
